Lyss Day Witvoet (they/them)
is a queer and disabled jeweler, metalsmith, flameworker, and writer based in Brooklyn, New York. They received their degree in creative writing from Fordham University, while simultaneously pursuing a career as a jeweler.
As an artist, Lyss explores the tactile as a way to understand and connect to the world. Their pieces are textural and often kinetic, preserving each moment of their process in the finished work. Their jewelry functions as an extension of the body, centering disabled and queer people who seek to claim and connect to their bodies through adornment as expression.
They bring a sense of whimsy to their work, finding great joy in creating a variety of trinkets.
